Sweet Home Chicago: Lauren & Sam’s Wedding Entertainment at 167 Green
REAL WEDDINGS · ENTERTAINMENT DESIGN
A personal vision, four musical chapters, and a celebration shaped around the people at its heart.
Lauren and Sam came to Spark Entertainment Group with a wedding vision rooted in music and their connection to Chicago. Their celebration at 167 Green on July 18, 2026, would be a love letter to the city, with entertainment that reflected their tastes and brought their guests into the experience.
Turning those ideas into an evening with a natural flow began with listening. Spark founder and entertainment designer Duerell Jones, known as DJ D. Jones, led the creative direction: understanding what mattered to the couple, making the possibilities tangible, and developing a plan the onsite team could bring to life.
First, understand the couple’s vision
Lauren and Sam’s musical interests stretched across jam bands, electronic music, and Chicago’s club culture. The opportunity was to bring those influences into different moments of the wedding, giving each part of the day a distinct feeling while keeping the whole experience connected.
Planning conversations explored their music, their connection to the city, and the kind of celebration they wanted to share. Those conversations became the foundation for talent selection, musical direction, and the transitions between performances.
Make the idea something they could see
Duerell developed a proposal that paired musical and performance ideas with AI generated concept visuals. These images helped communicate the intended atmosphere before the wedding, giving Lauren and Sam something concrete to respond to and refine.
The visuals were a planning tool. The next step was translating the creative direction into talent, timing, coordination with the planner, and a run of show. Below, the planning concepts sit alongside real footage from the celebration so you can follow the idea through to its execution.
One city. Four musical chapters.
01 · A welcome that felt like them
Lauren and Sam chose cocktails before the ceremony. DJ Madrid Perry set the musical atmosphere as guests arrived, creating space for conversation and connection before the vows. The opening established the tone for a wedding where music would carry the experience from one chapter to the next.

02 · A personal ceremony soundtrack
A live string quartet brought a different texture to the ceremony. The couple’s musical taste remained the starting point, with strings offering an intimate setting for the moments that called for everyone’s attention.

03 · Sweet Home Chicago
During dinner, live Chicago blues gave the wedding’s theme a musical expression. It connected the celebration to the city through performance, adding another dimension to the evening before the dance floor opened.

04 · The surprise
A surprise dance performance invited guests into the celebration and helped shift the room into its next chapter. DJ Gemini and live drums carried the dance floor experience, bringing the energy of the plan into the room.

Creative direction, delivered together
Duerell’s role in this wedding was entertainment design and creative direction before the event. He shaped the proposal, guided the planning conversations, and connected the couple’s vision to the talent and performance flow. He was not the onsite DJ.
On the wedding day, Spark’s onsite entertainers worked alongside the planner and production team to deliver the experience. Each performance had a purpose within the larger evening, from the first welcome to the final chapter on the dance floor.
What Lauren and Sam remembered
“We were absolutely heard at every planning session”Lauren · After the wedding
Lauren also shared: “Thank you for giving us the best night of our lives in our Sweet Home Chicago!” Sam’s public response was equally direct: “Perfect night” and that they were “thankful for the whole team.”
Their words speak to the goal behind the design: a couple who felt understood during planning and could recognize their own story in the celebration.
